What is Baptism?
Baptism is the foundational sacrament and the prerequisite for all other sacraments. It unites us with Jesus Christ , freeing us from original sin and allows us to rise with him to a life without end

In an emergency, anyone can baptize as long as they do it correctly and with the correct intentions |
The Receiver
- Anyone who is unbaptized (especially infants)
- Converts to the Christian faith
The Frequency of Baptism
Only received once
This is the reason why the church usually does't re-baptize people who convert to Catholicism from another Christian faith (except for Mormans)
The Church recognizes their ideals/ beliefs
The effects of Baptism
- Removes original and actual sin... every sin is washed away in baptism
- Causes new birth/ "new life"
- Incorporates us into Christ.... makes us members of the Roman Catholic Church
- Is the doorway into the Church
- An indelible spiritual mark on the soul
The Rite of Baptism
The threefold immersion of the candidate in the water, or water being poured three times on the head of the candidate as the minister says "I baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
The Form of Baptism
